We have 4 children's-height foldable tables which can seat up to 16-24 (depending on layout), and 23 children's chairs. We also have 9 adult chairs, and benches for extra seating.
We have one large fold out table and one slim size fold out table. Additionally there are other kid-height tables that can also be made use of. Please look at our gallery for ideas on how to use the space for party decorations.
You are welcome to use the resources inside (books, toys, musical instruments, blocks etc) apart from consumable art/craft items and dress-ups. There are two sandpits with buckets, spades, trucks etc that are available to you, as well as three swings and the full outdoor playground.
The kitchen has a fridge, oven, stove top with two hot plates, hot water dispenser and three sinks. Please note food items in the pantry and fridge are not included in the hire.
There are two children's toilets, one adult/accessibility toilet, a low sink for the children, two baby change tables and raised shower.
There is a quiet room with two cots and a nursing arm chair.
Up to 80 people, including both children and adults.
When your party is finished, you will need to put all of the resources back the way you found them, and then use the provided bleach spray to wipe down tables and chairs that have been used for eating, and any surfaces in the kitchen that you have used. You will need to put the tables and chairs that you have used away, and remove all of your rubbish and dispose of it elsewhere (we do not have space in our centre bins, unfortunately).
Our cleaner will then come in to do vacuuming and mopping the main floors and kitchen, and also cleaning and mopping the bathroom room. The cleaner will then put away the swings and lock the centre.
We reserve the right to retain bond in situations where our centre is required to pay money to replace or repair property, or our centre members are required to use extra time to resolve issues or perform extra cleanup duties above the usual. This includes but is not limited to: damage to property, removing Playcentre property from site, use of dress-ups or consumable items, not removing rubbish from site (including putting rubbish or recycling in Playcentre bins), leaving choking hazards on-site (popped balloons, slime, confetti, water beads etc), leaving used nappies on-site.
We do two bulk payments a month, around the 15th and 30th. Your bond will be returned at the next bulk payment date.
Cancelations:
At least 15 days prior to day of hire: 100% refund
Between 7 and 14 days prior to day of hire: 50% of hire and cleaning fees refunded, bond fully refunded
Up to 6 days prior to day of hire: 0% hire and cleaning fees refunded, bond fully refunded
Change of date:
If you have to cancel your party within 14 days prior to day of hire, you have the option to rebook within 3 months for a $50 fee, rather than losing part or all of your booking fee
Cockle Bay Playcentre is first and foremost an ECE, so we need to make sure we are providing a safe learning environment for our tamariki. For this reason we cannot have choking hazards left onsite, and therefore do not allow confetti, water beads, water balloons, slime and other tiny decorative items that are difficult to fully clean up. Regular and helium balloons are fine but please take them with you and make sure that you collect any popped ones that could make it into a baby's airway.
You are welcome to bring alcohol for reasonable daytime consumption. Please make sure that at least one sober adult is present at all times.
